Yoga Lessons at Collingwood

We are very excited to offer a weekly Yoga lesson to all of our children in Early Years and Years 3 and 4, as part of their curriculum with our specialist teacher.  At Collingwood, we believe that children perform at their best when given a balanced and challenging week both academically and creatively.    Physically, it supports their natural flexibility, strength (stabilising core muscles whilst maintaining joint mobility), coordination, and body awareness as well as concentration developing a sense of calmness and relaxation.

In today’s busy world, yoga also benefits children both emotionally and mentally.  It has been proven to help build social confidence through breathing techniques and encouraging children to use their voices, releases day-to-day anxieties and any feelings of negativity as well as offering a space for children to express their emotional state in a physical way.  It also improves memory retention which helps children learn more easily and improve concentration levels.

Better still, the children have great fun!
