Our Approach

  • Our Approach

The children in our Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage goals like any setting, but we can take their experience so much further.

    Areas of learning

Your child will mostly be taught through games and play.

    The areas of learning are:

    • communication and language
    • physical development
    • personal, social and emotional development
    • literacy
    • mathematics
    • understanding the world
    • expressive arts and design

Collingwood Nursery offers a unique early years’ experience in the Wallington area, distinguished by our small group sizes that ensure high levels of adult care and attention. Our diverse range of specialist-led sessions includes music, singing, sports including gymnastics. From 3 years old our children explore outdoor learning through our ‘Woodland Adventures’ program and receive French lessons. These enriching activities are exclusive to Collingwood Nursery and contribute to our exceptional early years setting.

    Woodland Adventures Program

Every week our children in Early Years have the fantastic opportunity to ‘get into nature’ with our ‘Woodland Adventure’ afternoon. Discovery sessions take place local green areas and may involve den building, storytelling, animal tracking, exploring habitats, bug hunts and much more. In supporting the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world, we can begin to nurture resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. It offers our young Collingwood learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to challenge themselves in a wonderful woodland setting.
