Collingwood aims to enable children to develop their personality and capabilities to the full and to enjoy the process. Academic attainment, confidence, good manners, high standards of behaviour, readiness to persevere and concern for others are among our objectives and we wish to work together with the parents to achieve them. All children matter equally whatever their gender, race or creed. All will be given the same opportunities and encouraged to develop their potential to the full. Collingwood is a vigorous school community. Developments are constantly taking place to meet changing needs, whilst we retain the best of traditional ways and outlook. The school offers a broad curriculum (including French) and there is a very full extra curricular programme also. The latter currently includes two choirs, an orchestra, chess club, drama club, football training (Autumn and Spring), netball club, cricket training (Summer), short tennis club (Summer) and an after school care club which is staffed each day until 6.30 pm, as well as a breakfast club from 7:30am each morning. In July 2007, Collingwood was awarded the 'Artsmark' by the Arts Council of England in recognition of its commitment to the arts. A celebratory concert was held at the Epsom Playhouse in March 2008. At Collingwood we believe that gaining first hand experience is vital if real understanding is to be achieved. Children are therefore taken on regular educational visits including a residential field trip and a visit to Paris for the oldest pupils. Our Aims are published as a policy document here. I shall be delighted to make an appointment to talk to you about your child and to show you the school. Mr C.R.T. Fenwick MA, BA (Hons.) Headmaster |
