The School Association

All parents of Collingwood children are automatically members of the Collingwood School Association. Apart from holding events which enable parents to socialise with each other, the Association, through its fundraising activities, generates an income in excess of £3000 per year, all of which is available for providing extra equipment or activities for the pupils, over and above that which the school would be expected to provide from fees. In short, it can enhance your child's education while helping to avoid unnecessary increases in fees.

In the last few years, the Association has paid for many different items requested by parents and staff, ranging from a 'child-friendly' surface to the Senior Department playground and computers to 'prize' badges for Sports day.

The programme of events includes a Christmas Bazaar, a Summer Fete and an End-of-Year social. The Canterbury Oast House Trust's Musical Quiz Night has also proved to be popular, as have regular Fashion shows and Wine Tastings. The Association's aim is to involve as many parents as possible; to persuade them to raise as much money as possible and to inspire them to suggest ways in which the resulting funds may be spent.

The Association is run by a committee of parents. A class representative from each class, plus a Treasurer and Secretary are elected annually at the AGM in the Autumn Term. The Class Reps then nominate the Chair and Vice-Chair(s) from amongst their number. The committee is augmented by the Headmaster, and the Senior Teachers from each department.

The Association also maintains a stock of second hand school uniform, available at the Christmas Bazaar and the Summer Fete. Uniform can be purchased outside of these events by arranging an appointment. Contact the school office for details.
