History of the School
Founded in 1929 as a Boys' School, Collingwood was constituted as an Educational Trust in 1978 and is now administered by a Board of Governors. In September 1991, the school became co-educational and the number of girls in the school has increased steadily since that time.

We aim to build upon the endeavours of the past, which have given Collingwood a strong academic, musical and sporting reputation. Healthy competition is encouraged through the House system comprising four Houses: Drake, Haig, Nelson and Wellington. The pupils are encouraged to take on additional responsibilities in their final year when Heads of House are appointed, along with School prefects and a Head Boy and Head Girl. Through a variety of inter-house competitions, the art of being generous winners and gracious losers is fostered.
Over the decades thousands of children have been through Collingwood with fond memories - some are now members of the Friends Of Collingwood.
The famous English artist Frank Dadd made his home in what is now the Springfield Road site in 1903. A plaque outside the front door commemorates this.
